Android Oreo (Go Edition) gadgets will soon come to India at 2,000 INR

The tech-giant Google has apparently associated with Indian manufacturers to unveil smartphones backed by Android Oreo (Go Edition).

Apparently, we may see smartphones with Android Oreo (Go Edition) in India really soon. Rumors have it that Google has joined hands with Indian phone manufacturers such as Intex, Micromax, and Karbonn to roll out budget-friendly smartphones, which will be backed by the lightweight version of Android Oreo. Sources also revealed that Micromax maybe the first company to launch such a device. The company may unveil its device somewhere around the Republic Day, and it will be priced somewhat at 2,000 INR.

Similarly, the remaining vendors too are expected to roll out the handsets in the weeks to come. Reports from Google state that Android Oreo (Go edition) devices are set to launch in the early bit of 2018.

It is important to note that the Indian vendors and manufacturers are not the only existing ones that are set to launch the handsets that will operate on the Android Oreo (Go Edition). Not long ago, reports suggested that HMD Global, the Finnish company that manufactures Nokia devices, is working on a mobile called the Nokia 1. This device will be using the OS version. The company hasn’t yet unveiled the launch date for the mobile phone. However, it is expected that the company will unveil the device by the first half of 2018, and it will most probably be in the month of March.

For reference purposes, the Go program was first declared at Google’s I/O conference, which took place just last year. This version of Android is solely structured for entry-level mobile phones, which offer a capacity of less than 1GB RAM. Apart from all this, the devices will also provide an exclusive ‘Go’ versions of apps, which will include YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Assistant Go and more. These apps will use minimal data compared to their standard versions available now. Furthermore, a separate Play Store for these devices will also be made. Making it even more evident that these apps are specifically only made for smartphones running the Android Go version.

Xiaomi’s latest releases Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite will be available for sale on Amazon and Mi.com. They are priced at 6,999 INR. And the price goes up to 10,999 INR. The new ‘Y’ series have been altered a little here and there to charm the youngsters.

The devices were first unveiled two weeks ago in an event at New Delhi. Both the devices will have the MIUI 8 out of the box update. They will soon get the MIUI 9 update as well.

Interestingly, the latest Xiaomi Redmi Y1 offers a 16Megapixel front facing camera. It has a 16Megapixel primary camera. The device additionally provides a high definition module, along with a better quality of low-light pictures. The front facing camera offers a 76.4 degree wide angle lens and an LED flash.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is fuelled by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC. The latest-gen processor comes in two variants: 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. The 3GB model costs 8,999 INR. The 4GB model is priced at 10,999 INR. The device also offer a RedmicroSD card slot, plus dual nano SIM support. Xiaomi claims to provide an infrared remote along with the mobile too.

The 32GB model costs 8,999 INR. And the 64 GB model is priced at 10,999 INR. The Redmi Y1 Lite is priced at 6,999 INR.

Y1 Lite is just a lighter version of the Redmi Y-series. The Y1 Lite weighs 150 grams. Y1 Lite’s screen features the same 5.5-inch HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass like the Redmi Y1. The primary camera offers a 13Megapixel shooter.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite functions on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425. It offers 2GB of RAM long with 16GB internal memory. The device runs on a 3080mAh battery. The company claims that the battery of the mobile can last for a whole day.

Samsung might provide facial recognition biometric security feature in its upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S8. Galaxy S8 also contains Iris scanning biometric security which was earlier introduced in Galaxy Note 7. The reason behind providing facial recognition could be that Apple is likely to provide facial recognition in iPhone 8. This could probably replace fingerprint sensor biometric feature in new future.

A report by The Investor stated that the device could have facial recognition along with Iris scanner feature. “Due to some limits of iris scanning such as speed and accuracy, we have decided to add facial recognition to the Galaxy S8,” a Samsung official was quoted as saying. “With a face scanner, it will take less than 0.01 seconds to unlock the phone.”

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 plus could be packed with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC. This two devices will feature a dual-rear camera of 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel front camera for selfie addicts. The devices will have 64GB internal storage which could probably have expandable storage upto 128GB via microSD. Both the devices will come up either with 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM.

Samsung will release the devices in two different display sizes. S8 will come out with 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display and S8 plus with 6.2-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display.

Reports also says that The Galaxy S8 will be unveiled on 29 March before its official launch in mid-April.
