Samsung will launch the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ on February 25. The Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, will have additional enhancements compared to last year’s Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. The changes will be seen in the design and core hardware.
In simple terms, while the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ were more or less the same deal differing only in screen size and battery capacities, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will be a lot different from each other.
The Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, ideally will come equipped with Samsung’s hallmark bezel-less Infinity display. They will have an aspect ratio of 18:9. Another change that’s remarkably worth noting is the repositioning of the fingerprint scanner in Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. Unlike other phones, the fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be placed right below the screen so that reaching out to it won’t be a problem.
The brand new handsets will retain 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch screen sizes using Samsung’s proprietary Super AMOLED panels. The phones will operate on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 for the US and an Exynos 9810 for the remaining global market, along with India.
The Galaxy S9 will offer 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and the Galaxy S9+ will present 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The Galaxy S9 will offer a single camera sensor at the back, which can shoot dual-pixel 12-megapixel photos, backed by OIS. The Galaxy S9 may also present a Super Slo-mo mode. The Galaxy S9+ may possibly use the same primary sensor, but it will also provide a secondary 12-megapixel sensor using fixed aperture.
Both the phones will feature an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Users can take animated avatars with them, which are like the iPhone X’s animoji feature.
Furthermore, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ may present stereo speakers tuned by AKG. The Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will arrange a bottom firing solution. There are no rumors on cost yet. Samsung will possible start the sales from March 16, 2018 though. We can expect the devices to arrive in India around the same time frame.
