Twitter has announced its partnership with ESL and Dreamhack to Live Stream E-Sports events. ESL and Dreamhack are two of the large scale organisations in the pro-gaming world. ESL’s Intel Extreme Master World Championship will be live streamed this Saturday in Katowice, Poland, according to The Verge report.

The live streaming starts on March 4, with pro gamers competing on “StarCraft II”. In April, the DreamHack event will begin with DreamHack Austin, this will go from April 28 through April 30. This event will include “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,” “StarCraft II,” “Street Fighter V,” and “Hearthstone.”

With this live stream, a 30 minutes a weekly show will also get broadcast on twitter. This broadcast will include latest highlights and behind the scene footage. More than 15 events are already lined-up by Twitter for live streaming in this year. One of the event include DreamHack tournaments and future IEM championships.

Twitch

Twitch is a live streaming video platform owned by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.com. With Twitter’s announcement of live streaming, Twitter becomes a potential competitor for Twitch. Twitter already has a large amount of audience unlike Twitch, so it could be a great success for Twitter in this year.

Over past few years, Twitter has signed many broadcasting contracts with companies which has already positioned itself as a streaming platform. This could be a time where other broadcasting companies needs to work on their strategy to compete with Twitter in near future.
