YouTube Unskippable Ad Format
YouTube is one of the top Google product of revenue generation for advertisers. Google has announced that it will remove the 30 seconds unskippable ad format in 2018. YouTube team is working on coming up with a new ad format to run on YouTube videos.
A Google spokesman said to Campaign, “As part of that, we’ve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers”.
If not 30 seconds ad then may be 20 seconds ad could be introduce in 2018. Last year in april, google introduced its 5 seconds unskippable ad format which worked great for them. It seems to be that YouTube has realized its unskippable ad is reducing its viewer. Many times users leave the video as they do not like to watch ad of not their interest.
YouTube may be a bit worried about FaceBook as they have been also working hard on their video section. As a part of competition, SnapChat app has been one of the most successful app which could also be a concern for Google. Google needs to put ample amount of efforts and strategy to remain the most preferred platform among users going ahead.”

He said it is the price YouTube is willing to pay to keep people watching. “I’m reading this as a signal that YouTube is very worried about Facebook,” he added. “We know that video is right at the very core of Facebook’s roadmap. Their video offering is becoming ever more attractive to brands by the day, and YouTube is panicking.”
Initially YouTube’s strategy to remove 30 Seconds ad format and introducing new format wouldn’t amaze advertiser. The outcome of new format will decide if the advertisers can continue with YouTube or may be they would jump its competitors for more revenue.
